How to set a data limit on Android devices

Setting a Data Limit on Android

Regardless of your device, you'll generally set a billing cycle (to align with your eSIM's validity), a data warning (a notification before you hit your cap), and a hard data limit (which will turn off mobile data when reached).

For Samsung Galaxy Devices:

  1. Open Settings, then tap Connections.
  2. Select Data Usage.
  3. Ensure Mobile Data is enabled, then tap Billing cycle and data warning.
  4. Tap Start billing cycle and set the date to match your eSIM's start date in your destination.
  5. Enable Set data warning and input a value (e.g., 8 GB for a 10 GB plan).
  6. Enable Set data limit and specify your desired data cap. Once this limit is reached, your mobile data will automatically turn off.

For Google Pixel Devices:

  1. Open Settings, then tap Network & Internet.
  2. Tap SIMs.
  3. Ensure Mobile Data is enabled, then tap Data warning & limit.
  4. Tap Mobile data usage cycle and set the date to match your eSIM's start date in your destination.
  5. Enable Set data warning and input a value (e.g., 8 GB for a 10 GB plan).
  6. Enable Set data limit and specify your desired data cap. Your mobile data will automatically switch off when this limit is met.

By proactively managing these settings, you can enjoy seamless connectivity without worrying about exceeding your eSIM data allowance. If you have purchased a data plan through Wave Connect you will receive an alert when nearing your data allowance limit.
